CENTRAL UMC

GLOBAL IMPACT CELEBRATION 2024

The Mission Outreach Team would like to thank members, ministries and friends who gave of their time and resources for making this churchwide event a success.

Esther Project

On Friday, Sept. 20th we had the pleasure of deep-diving into the book of Esther. The Esther

Project offered Biblical insights on the importance of the stand Esther took for the nation of Israel, which was eloquently led by Rev. Mildred Gunn. The second half of the program was led by the Youth and young adult minister, Rev. Tavis Tinsley who offered insights on the importance of the congregation’s call action by offering the book of Esther to our brothers and sisters in Uganda. Gifting this community with an understanding of the word of God by

translating the book of Esther into the Ugandan Lubwisi language. This was a night of wisdom and a desire to spread the gospel across the globe.

In response members, ministries and friends participated generously by selecting chapters and verses to be transcribed into the Lubwisi language. We are happy to report that over $1,572 was donated for these efforts.

Central United Methodist Church is a first-time contributor to Wycliffe Bible Translators and, therefore qualified for their gift match program! A generous donor has been committed to match all gifts from churches that are giving to Bible translation projects for the first time. This means Central’s gift will be doubled to $3,144! When the people in the Lubwisi tribe hear the gospel in their “heart language”, they will encounter God and be transformed. Ministries, members, and friends your generous contributions offer a life-saving impact.

THE MEAL PREP PROJECT FOR HAITI

The Mission Outreach Team would also like to thank members and friends who gave of their time in service to provide sustenance for our brothers and sisters in Haiti by participating in the meal prep project. The power of gathering, singing, and praying for the food prepared with love. It was also exemplary to have the CAU students along with Dr. Tonya Lawrence Miles to participate alongside our Central family.

The powerful witness to assemble the nutritious resources in collaboration with Outreach Incorporated of Union Iowa was unforgettable. Thank you all for your preparation of 6,042 meals that are now on the way to Haiti by way of Convoy of Hope.

Many thanks and praise to our sextons Carlos and Anthony, security team, and, those operating behind the scenes for your tireless efforts.
