Through the Ages Church Prom This Saturday!

Join us this Saturday, Jan. 18 from 5-8 p.m. for our All-Ages Church Prom Fundraiser!

Bring your friends, family, and your groove for a “Through the Decades” themed extravaganza. Kids, youth, and adults of all ages are invited to snack on yummy hors d'oeuvres, snap a pic in the photo booth, and dance the night away.

Get your tickets from our website here (choose "Through the Ages Prom” from the drop-down menu).

We suggest donations on this sliding scale:

  • $20-$50 for an individual
  • $35-$70 for a couple
  • $50 - $150 for a family

This prom fundraiser is planned and hosted by our Youth Leadership Team and our Senior High Youth Group with support from our Stewardship Team.

Raffle tickets will also be available at the door for a suggested donation of $5/each or six for $25. Raffle prizes are highly coveted gifts of time, talent, or treasure from our youth, such as leaf raking, snow shoveling, babysitting, and much more.

We need volunteers to help our youth make this happen! If you can donate cookies or a dessert, provide a snack or appetizer, or help with set-up or clean-up, please email Allison at allison@firstuniv.org

Our youth are hoping to raise at least $5,000 with this event, and your participation helps us make this goal a reality. Join us for a wonderful evening of dancing, community, and fun for a good cause!

Twin Cities Congregational Spiritual Care Training: How Do You Care?

Two Saturdays: January 25 and February 15 | 9:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m. | Unity Church and Zoom

Rev. Karen Hutt will lead this series of two workshops for people to deepen their practice of giving and receiving compassionate care for one another in times of joy, sorrow and transition. We are called, in these times, to level up the ways extend radical, inclusive welcome, to offer a true experience of sanctuary, care and belonging to our members, newcomers, friends and community.

Attendance at both is required for participation. Lunch is included for those attending in-person.

Before You Go...

Rev. Jen traveled to Fargo, ND, last weekend for a hockey tournament. She visited the wood chipper from the famous (er, infamous?) scene in the 1996 movie, Fargo

We can’t help ourselves. It’s right there:

Can You "Chip In?"

The First U Board of Trustees, the Stewardship Team, and First U Staff have decided to move up our annual commitment/pledge campaign. Why? Because January 20 is Inauguration Day.

We know that we are called to commit ever more deeply to caring for one another, and especially for folks who are most at risk in these times. As we sing together in church, We are a tower of strength, within and without. (“Tower of Strength,” by Sobonfu Somé)

So, we’re asking you to make your financial commitment to First Universalist Church for the upcoming church year–2025-2026–by Inauguration Day.

It’s highly irregular. We know.

We have important work to do, and we want the staff, lay leadership, and each member of this community to be focused on that work, not on the stress and worry about whether or not we can fully fund our programming.
