District Governor Kim Spirou will join us via Zoom to install our officers and board members.

District Governor Nominee Ed Smith will be joining our meeting to install our newest club members: Stephanie Richards, Carrie Fairfax-Moore, and Peter Dale.

Nancy Darga, Bob Carris and Claude Kendrick from LAMR enjoyed celebrating with Oviya Jaisankar at her graduation party. We thanked her for her work as the Co-President of the Churchill Interact Club. We wish her well in her pursuit of a medical degree at Wayne State University.

Livonia Rotary Clubs Spree Wine Tasting

June 26, 2026

The 2nd Annual Livonia Rotary Clubs Spree Wine Tasting was a fun event. New guests and familiar faces attended. Guests enjoyed an evening of nice wine, delicious food, and great fun hosted by Livonia Rotary Clubs wonderful members.

Raffles and Spin to Win were a boastful attraction and winners certainly walked away with some fables prizes. LAMR extends our sincere appreciation to the Livonia Rotary Club members who showed up in force to help produce a fun event. Alike, LAMR and their support continues to strengthen our ability to serve our community through joint Rotary charitable initiatives.

Final financial results and fundraising totals are currently being finalized and will be presented to the committee in the coming days.

Thank you to everyone whose time, effort, and generosity contributed to another memorable and successful event.

Club Meeting Featuring President Nancy Darga's "Year in Review"

June 24, 2026

The meeting began with the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by the Invocation given by Mike Ladwig. Sharon Pommerville collected Happy Bucks and members expressed positive thoughts and current life activities. Dave Burton gave a meaningful quote.

Today’s meeting was Nancy Darga’s last meeting as President. Our new president for 2026-27 is Erin H. Dobbins, and she will begin her presidency on July 1, 2026. Nancy prepared a “Year in Review” slide show that captured the highlights of the club’s accomplishments, activities, financial status, and reports from various committee chairs. The club took a vote to approve the proposed Board Members during Erin’s presidency, and all candidates were approved. Names and positions can be found on our Livonia AM Rotary website.

Nancy shared two personal accomplishments: Being awarded Citizen of the Year and completing the opening of the Downs River, a project that began in 2020 and was recently completed. Nancy shared that many obstacles and challenges often seemed too daunting for the project to succeed, but that perhaps it is these very challenges or the worst moment of our lives that present our greatest opportunity to build meaningful connections.

Through collective and collaborative efforts, make it possible to overcome the obstacles. Isn’t that the foundation of Rotary?

Nancy went on to list the many accomplishments of our AM club just this year (I am sure I missed some): Updated Membership Directory, Established Volunteer Corps (15 members), two new ongoing social events, completed restoration of

Rotary Park, contributing $94,000, raised by both Livonia Rotary Clubs,

successful fund raiser with Rotary Carnival in its 15th year, upcoming Touch a Truck in its 9th year and the largest event in the City of Livonia, a new and improved soccer ball, new meeting location, and rented storage (making life more comfortable), new Interact Club/Stephenson HS, Tammy went to RYLA where we sponsored three HS students, Spaghetti Dinner/Eradicate Polio, that had an accordion player last year, and meatballs, Road Clean-up (next one is July 18, The winning of the Dick Hedke Award and the Jennifer Jones Award, our support of 92 non-profit organisations, delivery of the ultra sound machine to the Village of Bawok in Cameroon, Africa, joined the Save Sibley Prairie Coalition (440 acres of wetland) and on and on and on and on. What an incredible year!!! Here’s to more to come and many thanks to all our members and Presidential Leaders—could not do all this without each one of you.

Club Meeting Featuring Paul Sincock, District 6400 Membership Chair

June 17, 2026

The meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance and an Invocation by Greg Greene. Happy Bucks were collected by Sharon Pommerville.

We are trying to keep our club present on the web. The AM Rotary has been successful so far. Bill Friske mentioned that the our club website's carnival page had about 18 thousand visitors, and the wine tasting is getting a couple of hundred a visitors a day.

Rotary Club Social - Schoolcraft College Vista Tech Center Craft Grill, 5:00-6:30 PM, July 9th.

Our speaker for today was Paul Sincock. Paul is recently retired from working for the city of Plymouth for 48 years. He worked as the City Manager and an ambassador at Metro Airport. He has served as District Governor 2018-19.

Paul is District 6400 Membership Chairman. His focus is on membership and service.

Paul said that membership is the story you create. You need to get the word out through social media. People are looking for connection. You are not having a meeting at 7:30 in the morning, you are having an "experience". They need to have involvement. The first 30 days of membership is important. Service projects: take pictures of projects and post them on social media. Invite the public to join your club. Tag other groups in your project.

Paul challenged us to talk to 5 people not in our club and invite them to visit our club. ACTION items suggested for our Club: The club needs business cards for our members. We need an iPad for people to sign in to events.
