In Honor of

Lesley Snedeker DePorto

"We would like to honor Lesley Snedeker DePorto; who left this earth, this past August.

She was a longtime foundation volunteer and became the Director of our annual golf tournaments for a number of years. Lesley brought in many sponsors and golfers to participate at our tournaments. Her contribution was priceless.

Lesley served so many organizations within our communities; both Fairfield and Vacaville. She was always first to sign up to volunteer with any organization and selflessly helped so many people. Lesley was a dear friend to many of us and a member of The Matt Garcia Foundation family.

Over 400 family & friends gathered in September to celebrate Lesley’s life. We had many of our foundation volunteers to help serve at the reception; it was a beautiful gathering for a beautiful person. She will be missed by so many people and many of our local community organizations. Our love and support for her beloved husband, Jay DePorto, and the Snedeker Family. Rest in peace dear friend."

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

pink_ribbon.jpg

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a yearly campaign to raise awareness about the disease. For many women, mammograms are the best way to find breast cancer early, when it is easier to treat and before it is big enough to feel or cause symptoms. Having regular mammograms can lower the risk of dying from breast cancer.

Facts:

  • In the U.S., each woman has a 1-in-8 chance of developing breast cancer over the course of her lifetime.
  • There are over 3.8 million breast cancer survivors in the United States.
  • On average, every 2 minutes a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer in the United States.

Encourage a loved one to get regular check-ups. Let’s all pitch in to help find a cure!

Some Inspiring Words
hands_holding_hope.jpg

“Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness.”

– Desmond Tutu

“Life’s too short to wake up with regrets. So love the people who treat you right, forgive the ones who don’t, and believe that everything happens for a reason. If you get a chance, take it. If it changes your life, let it. Nobody said it’d be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.”

- Dr. Seuss
