Much has happened since the onset of the most impactful health crisis in this century: COVID-19. What is most tragic is that more than 210,000 people have died in the United States from this devastating disease.
In the throes of a national election, we are also faced with recent policy changes that are affecting our employers who are either colleges and universities or private companies that are federal contractors, grant recipients and/or federal agencies. These changes may also have an impact on AAAED as an organization whose fundamental mission is professional development for the EEO, affirmative action and diversity professional.
In addition to the regulations on Title IX and Sexual Harassment, which went into effect on August 14, 2020, the recent "Executive Order on Combating Race and Sex Stereotyping" is the latest challenge to our collective efforts to promote diversity and inclusion. Lastly, the passing of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is potentially a profound blow to equal opportunity and affirmative action programs and we need to assess what the implications are for our efforts in this area.
On Monday, October 19, 2020, at 2 pm ET, AAAED will host a "Candid Conversation," a Zoom call on recent events. We want to hear your views on these and other issues and your suggestions for moving forward despite these headwinds.
