The Torch (or the Torah) Has Been Passed
Please join us in welcoming Rabbi Levy for his first official day as our spiritual leader, which begins tomorrow, July 1st, as our new fiscal year begins.
Although Rabbi Levy formally steps into his role tomorrow, we have had the pleasure of meeting and celebrating with him at our two wonderful events in June. To enjoy photographs and videos, please visit our website pages for the 18th Anniversary from June 5th, and the June 17th Beach Shabbat Service where he was lovingly installed by Cantor Abramson.
We hope you will join us in-person on July 8th and August 19th for our Summer Shabbat Services!
|
|
Also installed at our Beach Shabbat two weeks ago, our new Executive Leadership Team officially begins on July 1st as well.
Let's welcome and support this wonderful team as they offer support to our Congregation and to all of us!
We are grateful for each one of them for taking the torch! (Left to right) Abby Ross (2nd year as Secretary), Jackie Marschall (newly installed Co-President), Marie Orsini Rosen (2nd year as Co-President), Dahni Nisinzweig (newly installed as Treasurer).

Ten Minutes of Torah
Commentary on Parashat Korach, Numbers 16:1−18:32
Watch Your Tone
by Beth Ellen Young
As a teenager, I had a very difficult relationship with my mother. We couldn't seem to talk to each other without arguments that devolved into yelling, and they often ended with slammed doors. My dad, a professor of rhetoric and argumentation, gently tried to help me understand that there were different ways I could speak to my mother that might yield different results. As a teenager, I wasn't very interested in this feedback, but I think Korach, Datan, and Abiram would have benefited from it in this week's Torah portion.
Note: The picture is a recently taken photo of our very own beautiful Torah

How We Can Help The Crisis in Ukraine
We are all horrified at what is happening in Ukraine to all the people, and particularly to the Jewish population, some of whom have gone through this type of horror before.
Should you wish to send assistance to the Jews of Ukraine – here are some suggestions:
|
|
|
Jewish Federations of North America are helping people make Aliyah to Israel, and supporting temporary housing, satellite phones, assisting internally displaced people, and providing critical welfare services. To contribute to Jewish Federations, go to UJF of Greater Stamford or UJA of Greenwich. This agency has been helping in Ukraine for decades, formerly known as United Jewish Appeal. The donation you make is credited to your local federation, but the entire donation goes to the central UJFNA and is sent to Ukraine to their local affiliates (JDC, JAFI, etc.) who have organizations on the ground.
The Joint Distribution Committee is on the ground in Ukraine delivering urgent lifesaving care to Jewish seniors and families: food packages, transport, accommodations for those fleeing, medicine, etc. Go to Donate.JDC.org to contribute.
Jewish Agency for Israel - North America - JAFINA is assisting Jews looking to make Aliyah, and supporting the local Jewish Ukrainian community. This agency is focused on helping Israel, but is on the ground in Ukraine, mainly assisting Jews who would like to go to Israel.
World Central Kitchen uses the power of food to nourish communities and strengthen economies in times of crisis and beyond. They are providing food to people in Ukraine and encouraging people to make donations directly to them.
