Local Championship Qualifier
Sunday, June 2nd
(formerly known as Chapter Championships)

Don't forget to Register for the 2019 FTL Area Local Championship Qualifier! Whether you are a seasoned golfer or new to the game, the FTL Area Local Championship Qualifier provides competitive golf among friends and in the spirit of fun!

When:  Sunday, June 2nd - 1:00pm Shotgun Start. (Rain Date, Sunday, June 9th). Dinner to follow.

Where:  Jacaranda Golf Club , 9200 West Broward Blvd, Plantation, FL 33324

Cost:  $85.00 (includes golf fees, dinner and awards)

NOTE: You will need to register TWICE. Once with the Fort Lauderdale Chapter for payment, and you must also register with LPGA Amateurs Headquarters (no fees) as follows:

Compete in the LPGA Amateur Cup

Registration for the 2019 LPGA Amateur Cup opens on June 3 at 9pm. Our chapter currently has four teams set to compete (East Coast Eagles, Birdie Bombers, Bad News Birdies and the Flippin Birdies). If you would like to form a team, you need eight LPGA Amateurs members with current handicaps, a captain and a name for your team and email Celeste with your information.

Registration begins June 3 (it fills up very fast)
Southern Qualifier is September 29-30 at Tiberon Golf Club in Naples
National Finals are November 1-2 at Reunion Resort in Orlando

We have now scheduled this event once a month on the first Sunday. 9 Holes are $25 inc. a drink ticket. Full 18 for $40. We will all finish together . Email Michelle to sign up for this. Please be clear if you want to play 9 or 18.

Broward Women's Amateur Championship! Here are the results:

Winning First Flight (handicaps 12 – 15) – Veronica Trigo (1 st  Low Gross) with a 2 day gross score of 167.
 
Sweeping every position in the Second Flight (handicaps 16 – 19):
               Jackie Cox (1 st  low Gross with a 2 day gross score of 172)
               Jisu Mass (1 st  Low Net with a 2 day net score of 148) (scorecard playoff with Kiki Leedy)
               Kiki Leedy (2 nd  Low Gross with a 2 day gross score of 187)
               Carolyn Ward (2 nd  Low Net with a 2 day net score of 149)
 
Taking two of the four trophies in the Third Flight (handicaps 20 – 22):
               Sherry Gryder (1 st  Low Net with a 2 day net score of 142)
               Kathy Burke (2 nd  Low Net with a 2 day net score of 146)
 
Fourth Flight (handicaps 23 – 26):
               Corrie Nichols (1 st  Low Net with a 2 day net score of 144)
 
Taking three of four trophies in the Sixth Flight (handicaps 30 – 41):
               Laurie Villa (1 st  Low Gross with a 2 day gross score of 204)
               Ann Poe (1 st  Low Net with a 2 day net score of 151)
               Wendy Montanaro (2 nd  Low Gross with a 2 day gross score of 214)
                
We also had some big cash winners in skins (the first year the tournament has had skins)
               Laurie Villa ($125) (net 2 on hole #4 on the West Course)
               Jackie Cox ($125) (net 2 on hole #7 on the West Course)
               Ann Poe ($187) (net 1 on hole #8 on the East Course)

Broward Summer League
Our Broward Summer League team - consisting of 26 chapter members - will be competing to maintain our first place status (and keep the trophy). This week’s match was split 2 and 2 with Weston Hills Country Club.  Our next match is with our biggest rival - Fort Lauderdale Country Club on Thursday May 2.  Wish our Team luck!

Biggest Loser Handicap Challenge Is Back!
Don’t worry...you don’t have to get on the scale on national television in your spandex for this event!! In this national challenge, participants will be flight-ed by Handicap Index with the goal of lowering their Handicap. Winners of all flights will receive prizes. The player lowering her Handicap by the most strokes will win the Grand Prize - a round of golf for the winner and a guest with 2-time LPGA Major Champion, Brittany Lincicome!
