With strong commitments to community partnership and public impact, the Tompkins Chamber and Finger Lakes Independence Center are collaborating to present strategies for providing quality services to people with disabilities and help answer questions you and your staff may have. 

The webinar will summarize methods employers may use in their businesses/organization. Valerie Horn and Jeff Boles from Finger Lakes Independence Center will be our hosts. FLIC staff provides a personal perspective on disability issues and customizes presentations to directly assist business owners as well as their employees.
L.E.A.R.N.: Sexual Harassment Prevention Training with Linda Bryan
Wednesday, September 30 | Noon - 1 p.m.
Last chance to take this with the Chamber!

New York State law requires that employers provide a sexual harassment prevention policy and training on an annual basis to all employees, and encourages training of new employees as soon as possible, noting that employers may be liable for the actions of employees immediately upon hire.

This one hour NYS Compliant Sexual Harassment Prevention Training will include:An explanation of sexual harassment consistent with New York State guidance. The training will conclude with a Q&A for all attendees, and will qualify as a "train the trainer" opportunity.

Healthy Workforce Network
On-the-Job Training Grant

The Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce a new iteration of its On-the-Job Training Grant through a United States Department of Labor funding award to the Healthy Workforce Network - a local network of organizations collaborating to support people in recovery and their employers.

This funding award differs from past OJT grant programs in that it is intended to support people in recovery receiving educational and training supports, new job opportunities, and maintaining a recovery friendly workforce and employer base in Tompkins County and regionally. All employers interested in being considered for this program must take our survey and be willing to comply with additional program requirements.

From the birth of virology with Frances O. Holmes’ development of the TMV local lesion assay, to using baculoviruses to manufacture COVID-19 vaccines, learn how BTI research continues to work for humanity.

On Saturday, September 26th, there will be a Moment of Movement held at the Ithaca Tompkins International Airport outside on the tarmac.

Beginning at 9am, popular FLX Fitclub instructor Chantelle Farmer and her team of senior instructors (Jenny Henion, Jessica Kerns, and Carrie Susskind) will lead a free hour-long workout to benefit youth and families of Tompkins County. The money raised by our community will go towards the Ithaca Youth Bureau and the United Way of Tompkins County. These two important organizations successfully serve the needs of youth, parents and caregivers in our community.
