Red, white, blue... and jazz, too! Start your 4th of July celebrations early with a free lunchtime jazz concert today, Wednesday, July 1, from noon–1:30pm, as Summer Jazz Sensations continues with the Rutgers University Emerging Artists Ensemble, led by acclaimed bassist Kenny Davis, in Dante Park (Broadway and 64th Street). As the nation prepares to celebrate 250 years of independence, join us in honoring one of America's greatest musical traditions with an afternoon of exceptional live jazz.
Beat the heat beneath the shade trees while enjoying great music. We'll be handing out free bottled water to help you stay cool and hydrated while supplies last. During intermission, enjoy a stretch session led by the West Side Y before the music resumes.

End your Independence Day with one of New York City's most iconic traditions—the 50th Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks®. This year's celebration is especially meaningful as it marks both the 50th anniversary of the fireworks display and America's 250th anniversary. Beginning at approximately 9:25pm on Saturday, July 4, the show will illuminate the skies above the lower East River, lower Hudson River, and the Brooklyn Bridge.

Alternate Side Parking is suspended on Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. Parking meter regulations are also suspended on both days. On these days, you may park at a No Stopping, No Standing, or No Parking sign if the rule is not normally in effect seven days a week (for example, No Standing Anytime). Otherwise, you cannot.

There will be no trash, curbside composting, or recycling collection on Saturday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. Residents who normally receive Saturday trash, curbside composting, or recycling collection should place their material at the curb Saturday evening for collection beginning Sunday, July 5. Friday, July 3, is a normal collection day, and residents should follow their regular set-out schedule. Please note that collection may be delayed as the New York City Department of Sanitation works to collect the backlog of material.
