Wed., Nov. 6, 12 pm: Lunch & Learn at Lapham, DNA Testing: What You Should Know  DNA tests have become a very popular gift, especially at Christmas. But do you know which one to buy? Do you know how the tests differ? And do you know the long-range implications of sending your DNA to a company? RSVP. Free.
 
Thurs., Nov. 7 , 11:30 am: Medical Marijuana Discussion & Lunch at Staying Put  Member Event: Join us for an informal discussion about the use of medical marijuana to treat chronic pain, nausea, muscle spasms, and other medical conditions. We will talk about the process of obtaining it and some people's experiences using it. RSVP. Free.
 
Tues., Nov. 12, 9:30 am: Men's Coffee at Staying Put. Always an interesting conversation with lots of laughter. RSVP. Free.
 
Tues., Nov. 12, 11:30 am - 2:00 pm: "The Story of our Heirlooms" at the New Canaan Historical Society. Author Dede Bartlett will discuss how to share the family stories behind the antiques we have in our homes at a luncheon catered by Libby Coverly Cooke. Call 203.966.1776 or send a check to 13 Oenoke Ridge, New Canaan, CT for $40 made out to the New Canaan Historical Society.
 
Wed., Nov. 13, 7:00 - 8:30 pm: Senior Living Options Presentation at the New Canaan Library.  Older adults are fortunate to have more living options than ever available to them. You can choose to live at home or move to a retirement community. From there you can choose a community that is designated as independent living, assisted living (with or without skilled nursing care), memory care,
or all of the above. You can "buy in" or simply rent. Confused yet? Come get your questions answered. New Canaan Library, Lamb Room. RSVP. Free.
 
Thurs., Nov. 21, 12:00 - 2:00 pm: Roger Sherman Inn Holiday Luncheon. A delicious meal and beautiful decorations are sure to get you in the holiday spirit. 195 Oenoke Ridge Rd., New Canaan. $45 per person. Advance reservation and payment required by December 14th.
 
Mon., Dec. 2, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm. Mitten Tree Trimming at Staying Put. Stop by with mittens, hats, and scarves for our Holiday Tree and stay for cider and donuts. All donations will be given to Vine Cottage.
 
Tues., Dec. 3, 2019, 11:00 am - 12:00 pm: A Magical Christmas Eve at the Lockwood-Mathews  Mansion Museum. Come join us on a visit to one of the most cherished holiday destinations in New  England. A one-hour tour of the Mansion will feature an overview of the holiday celebration, decade  by decade, from the 1850s to the 1930s. $8 per person. RSVP and payment must be received by  Mon., Dec. 2 . Optional lunch out afterwards.

Wed., Nov. 6, 6:30 - 7:30 pm:  Downsize:  Living Large in a Small House. 
Best-selling author Sheri Koones presents the hottest trend in the housing market. The 25 small houses presented in Downsize are owned by people who have made a conscious decision to downsize from a larger home to a smaller home or who just decided to build small in the first place. Some of the houses are new (site-built or prefab), others are remodels. All are 2,000 sq. ft. or less.

Sun., Nov. 10, 2:30 - 5:00 pm: POWERHOUSE THEATER PRESENTS: LADIES IN RETIREMENT. A seemingly quiet Victorian country home on the marshes of the Thames estuary is actually the backdrop for murder and madness in this show that has been described as "a perfect example of psychological melodrama."
