Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Summer is a time when our neighborhoods come alive. Families gathering, young people enjoying time away from school, and communities across South LA coming together for events, celebrations, and long summer evenings.

As we enjoy all the season has to offer, I am asking each of us to move through our community with care. Please slow down when driving, stay alert, and make space for children, pedestrians, and cyclists. Put the phone away while driving, obey traffic signals, and never drive after drinking or using anything that may impair your judgment. A few extra moments of patience can prevent a tragedy and help ensure that everyone makes it home safely.

Traffic safety is a shared responsibility. When we slow down and look out for one another, we are practicing the kind of community care that makes South LA strong.

With that same spirit of care and connection, I hope you will join us at these upcoming events for neighbors and families throughout Council District 8.
