It's Holiday Pageant  Sunday!

Don't miss the chance for your children to take a part in our spontaneous Christmas Pageant, Sunday, December 15 at 10:00.  We have parts for mice, stars, wise people and MUCH more!

This is an All-Community Worship Sunday. The children will stay with us for the entire worship service.  But don't worry about them getting antsy - this is the most fun Sunday of the year!

Dinner Conversation Resources for Exploring Our December Theme

You are your child's primary faith formation educator. And to help you with this big job, we'll be providing you with monthly resources for you to explore at home.

This week we bring you dinner time conversation starters. We will add to these resources every week.  Soulful Home Resources, click here.

These resources are from Soulful Home, a UU faith formation service, and have been edited by Sara Sautter, our Interim Director of Faith Formation.

Have fun!

See you Sunday!

Twelve Environmentally Friendly Ways for the Holidays
Suggestions from your UUFD Environmental Justice Team

The green we have in mind is the environmentally friendly kind. Here's some tips that will put you atop of
Santa's nice list this holiday season:

1. Use only LED Christmas lights and save up to 80% of the energy costs.

2. Send E-Cards - Use e-cards and e-mails to save paper and mailing expense.

3. Shop Local - Buying local keeps 4 times the amount of dollars in the local economy than buying from a chain.

4. Give Service- Think of a friend or family member who may appreciate your time, or give to service project, lend a helping hand.

5. Use Eco-Friendly Gift Wrapping - Use recycled, cloth, reused, or newspaper materials for wrapping.

6. Have a Green Christmas Tree - Get a permit to cut a tree in the forest, or buy a live tree to plant after the holidays and celebrate year-round.

7. Mother Nature Inspired Decorations - Take a walk and find natural materials such as pine cones, holly, seashells, stones, and evergreen branches.

8. Recycle Decorations - Save decorations that will keep in that special 'Christmas box' and send perishables to the compost or recycling.

9. Reduce Travel - Best way to cut your carbon footprint is to reduce your travel. Save time, money, fuel, and perhaps reduce stress.

10. Save Home Energy - use a programmable thermostat, LED lights, weather stripping, insulation. Get ready for the long winter nights.

11. Stocking Stuffers - Fill those stocking with yummy, health treats like dried fruit, nuts, or our favorite chocolate chip cookies, unless Santa gets them first.

12. Buy Less- The best way for a greener holiday is to buy less. Ask those you're thinking of buying for if they want a gift.

Have a Happy Green Holidays!
