We continue our tradition of marching in the WeHo Pride parade again this Sunday, with an outdoor viewing party for staff hosted at 8280 Santa Monica Blvd.

The parade steps off at noon on Sunday, June 1, at the intersection of N. Crescent Heights Boulevard and Santa Monica Boulevard.

This year, we'll be joining a coalition of dozens of LA nonprofit healthcare organizations in a call to support Medicaid and funding for healthcare initiatives that are crucial to the wellbeing of the communities we serve. Along with other nonprofits, we will be carrying signs this year to encourage attendees to visit ourcommunityisunderattack.org, a website made in collaboration with 16 nonprofits across LA, with MHF's own team in the lead for design and publishing.

It's not too late to join us in the parade, and plus ones are also welcome! Reply to this email if you're interested in participating. Hourly employees must coordinate with supervisors for hours to be adjusted ahead of Pride events. Our marchers will meet at the corner of Santa Monica Blvd. and Fairfax by 11 a.m. (MHF's spot in the parade is #49).

Our viewing party will be held again this year outside 8280 Santa Monica Boulevard to watch the parade on Sunday, June 1, open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. If you can't join us in the parade, please feel encouraged to join us at the viewing party, and to bring friends and family along!

Through this challenging year, we continue to show our support for the community, with a message this year to emphasize the crucial need for support to care for the communities we serve. Please wear an MHF-branded Pride tee at these events to help raise awareness for our services.

Talking Points if Approached at the Parade

We want all of our team members to be aware of the facts and the impact of these federal cuts. For this purpose, we have crafted the below talking points to guide you as you engage with parade-goers and allies.

The messages:

  • β€œOur community is under attack.” Federal funding cuts threaten no or low cost HIV/STI testing and treatment.
  • This is a public health crisis. These cuts will increase infection and transmission rates across L.A. We are about to lose all the progress we made over the course of decades.

The impact:

  • As of June 1, services will reduce. Funding cuts will limit our ability to provide HIV/STI testing and treatment for patients with HMO plans or no insurance. Our team is here to explore options that are still available for testing and treatment at no or low cost.
  • 33 LA County clinics are affected. The entire safety net is impacted.

The action:

  • We’re marching to make our voices heard. With our signs, our voices, and our presence, we are asking our community to contact their representative and tell them stand against the current bill in congress that would strip away healthcare from millions of Americans.
  • We’re calling on the community to step in. Help fund the services that protect us all. Donate now at menshealthfound.org/donate.

Transportation

We ask that you provide your own transportation if you have it, with mileage reimbursed. If you do not have access to transportation, rideshare apps may be reimbursed, with written consent from supervisors required ahead of using the app.

Alcohol Consumption

The events are an extension of the workplace, and we expect all employees to conduct themselves professionally.

Alcohol should be consumed in moderation. Excessive drinking is not acceptable.

Given that this is an extension of MHF, all staff is expected to maintain respectful, courteous, and professional behavior at all times. Inappropriate language, behavior, or conduct will not be tolerated.

Employees must not drive under the influence.

During events, all company and workplace policies, including codes of conduct, anti-harassment, and safety guidelines, remain in effect.

Happy Pride, and we hope to see you on Sunday!
