Lesson: Tax Season Scams
Scammers often pose as the IRS, tax preparers, or charities to steal money and personal information during tax season.
Red Flags: Urgent threats, requests for gift cards or payment apps, or demands for your Social Security number or bank details.
The IRS will not contact you by text, email, or social media. Never share personal information unless you initiated the contact.
| | |
Lesson: USB/Flash Drive Scams
Scammers may leave or mail USB drives labeled as important files or rewards, hoping someone will plug them in.
A malicious USB can install malware, steal passwords, or access sensitive information without warning.
If you didn’t request it, don’t connect it. Turn suspicious USB drives over to your IT department or local law enforcement.
