This panel discussion includes community organizations to discuss recent legislative changes that impact the LGBTQ community, with a focus on employment and healthcare access.
In-Person Volunteer Opportunity: Woodstock Pride Festival
Sunday, June 13, various times, 121 West Van Buren, Woodstock, IL 60098
Volunteer in a numbers of roles such as set up, intersection directors, entertainment runners, parade posse and more to support the festival in Woodstock Square. Social distancing and masks will be required.
Virtual Presentation: A Candid Conversation With Mama Gloria, Legendary Trans Activist
This event will be a conversation with Gloria Allen, better known as Mama Gloria, a Black transgender woman from Chicago who is a leader in her community.
The discussion will focus on how to provide inclusive care in an affirming way to transgender patients, her involvement in the community to help trans-youth, and her point of view on the intersectionality of race and gender minorities in health care and the workplace.
Virtual Presentation: Practical Communication for Gender Affirming Healthcare

Working with transgender and non-binary people (TGNB) requires an awareness of the unique barriers that they face when seeking health care. This training will be presented by Sue Jordan, MD, PhD, plastic surgeon and medical director of the Northwestern Medicine Gender Pathways Program, and Nikk Selik, Chicago-based transgender expert, and will support clinical staff in understanding best practices of gender affirming communication in order to create a welcoming and inclusive clinical environment for TGNB patients.
As we celebrate Pride month, we want to make you aware of the OutList, which is a public and voluntary listing that Feinberg members who identify as LGBTQ+ can join as well as the AllyList for Feinberg members who support and promote the wellbeing of LGBTQ+ community members. In addition, we invite you to learn more about the Out Network, a Chicago campus- and affiliate-wide networking group for LGBTQ+ identified individuals and allies sponsored by the Feinberg School of Medicine.
