When Buttercup arrived from a crowded shelter in southern New Mexico, no one could have guessed she’d become the heart and soul of Hannah’s House. This black-and-white sweetheart had spent far too long waiting for someone to see past her health problems. But at June’s, she finally got the care, comfort, and love she’d been missing. Once she began to heal, Buttercup’s true spirit came shining through.
She became our official greeter—always the first to welcome new feline residents and every visitor who walks through the door with her little cracked meow. Whether she’s stretched out in a patch of sunlight or sprawled right across the papers we’re trying to read, Buttercup makes sure no one forgets that she’s in charge of morale.
While we celebrate every cat who finds a Senior Lap or a Furever Foster, some—like Buttercup—find their home right here. Hannah’s House is more than a rescue; it’s a sanctuary for 25 special senior cats who had nowhere else to go. Here, they enjoy soft beds, towering cat trees, sunlit windows, and a cozy catio where they can safely feel the breeze and watch the world go by. Their meals are regular, their health needs are met (even if they don’t love the vet!), and most importantly, they’re loved.
Each cat at Hannah’s House, from Buttercup to the shyest newcomer, has been given a second chance at life. Many came from shelters where age or illness would have meant the end of their story. Others lost their homes when their beloved owners passed away. But here at June’s, their stories don’t end—they begin again, full of comfort, companionship, and the dignity every senior cat deserves.
