June Letter from the CEO
Krystin Albert; RN, BSN
Licensed Nursing Assistants (LNAs) are the backbone of the healthcare system, and National LNA Appreciation Week, June 11th-17th, is a meaningful time to celebrate the extraordinary care, compassion, and dedication they bring to patients every day. Their work is at the heart of healthcare, providing hands-on care that helps individuals feel safe, respected, and cared for during some of life’s most vulnerable moments.
During LNA Appreciation Week, it is especially important to recognize the many ways LNAs make a difference. They spend more time with patients than almost anyone else, assisting with daily activities such as bathing, feeding, dressing, and mobility. These responsibilities go far beyond routine tasks—they help preserve dignity, promote comfort, and support healing in ways that truly matter.
LNA Appreciation Week also gives us the opportunity to honor the personal connections LNAs build with those in their care. Their support is not only physical, but emotional as well. Because they are often the first to notice subtle changes in a patient’s condition, mood, or behavior, LNAs provide an essential layer of attentiveness and advocacy that strengthens the entire care team.
Their contributions also make it possible for nurses, therapists, doctors, and other healthcare professionals to provide effective and responsive care. By managing the day-to-day needs of patients with skill and consistency, LNAs strengthen the entire healthcare system. Celebrating LNA Appreciation Week is one way to acknowledge just how vital their role is in keeping care teams connected, compassionate, and efficient.
In many ways, LNAs represent the heart of compassionate care. Their work calls for patience, resilience, empathy, and strength in demanding environments. Whether they serve in hospitals, long-term care settings, or home care, LNAs bring comfort, stability, and kindness to countless individuals and families. LNA Appreciation Week is a chance to pause and celebrate these remarkable caregivers for all they do.
As we celebrate LNA Appreciation Week, we recognize that Licensed Nursing Assistants are far more than support staff—they are essential to the strength, compassion, and effectiveness of healthcare. Their dedication, skill, and unwavering commitment deserve not only recognition this month, but appreciation all year long.
LNA Appreciation Week reminds us to say thank you, celebrate their impact, and honor the invaluable role they play in every corner of healthcare. I want to thank Sarah Olisky, Ellie Taylor, Jackie Foden, Amanda Valyou, Ryan Boehner and Kayla Laramie for the excellent care they provided to all our patients and for the excellent work they do every single day. They are an asset to our community.
Thank you for choosing Franklin VNA and Hospice as your Home Health and Hospice agency and for sharing your experience with our services with others. It is because of you that we are able to continue to remain a small independent hometown agency.
