Join Us in September for the
10th Annual CISDR Golf Tournament!
Communities In Schools of the Dallas Region (CISDR) invites you to the 10th Annual CISDR Golf Tournament on Monday, September 27, 2021. Since 2011, this has been the largest fundraising event for our organization, due to the support from people like you. Last year we raised a record $160,000, and with your commitment, we strive to raise $200,000 this 10th anniversary year, allowing us to reach students who need us now more than ever!

"Flashlight Friday" Encourages Kids to Read
At Webb Elementary School in McKinney, CISDR Site Coordinator Kayla Firth runs a "Flashlight Reading Friday" for her first grade reading group. Students are rewarded for positive behavior during the week by getting to "camp out" under tables and read with flashlights. The kids really enjoy this activity that promotes both good behavior and reading skills. Thank you, Kayla, for finding a fun way to improve both academics and behavior!
CISDR Staff Plan "Basic Needs Drive"
CISDR Site Coordinator Emily Yount recently organized a school-wide Basic & Essential Needs drive for students and families at Wilson Middle School in Plano. Because of the generosity of the Wilson community, CISDR was able to serve more than 20 Wilson families and provide them each with 3 boxes of assorted food, 1 bag of microwavable meals and snacks that students could cook themselves, and toiletry bags filled with shampoo, conditioner, body wash and more!
Mental Health Month: Building Self-Esteem
May is Mental Health Month! All month long, we will be raising awareness for mental health. At Carver Elementary in Greenville, CISDR Site Coordinator Whitney Threatt helped her students improve their self-esteem by making sticky notes to put on their mirrors at home. Thank you, Whitney, for being such a strong advocate for youth mental health! To read more stories about Mental Health this month, follow us on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram.
