September is Suicide Prevention Month

September is Suicide Prevention Month, an important time to raise awareness and offer support to all service members and veterans who may be struggling. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs works diligently to track and address veteran suicide, reporting that approximately 17 veterans die by suicide each day. However, this number doesn’t fully capture those veterans who may not be connected to VA services, including some with other-than-honorable discharges, or active-duty service members who may also face mental health challenges. At Veterans Bridge Home, we work alongside the VA and other community partners to ensure that every veteran and service member, regardless of their discharge status, has access to the resources and support they need. Together, we can save lives and foster stronger, more resilient communities. Dr. French highlighted our unique "Battle Buddy" program, which pairs participants with fellow veterans, fostering friendships and creating a support system to navigate both the good and challenging days. The program is designed to ensure that no veteran faces their journey alone. Click the photo to hear Dr. French's message. Learn more about the Battle Buddy Program here.
