Exciting Progress at 61 Gramercy Park North!

We’re thrilled to share that construction at 61 GPN is well underway and quickly taking shape. Framing for each room has begun, and it’s been exciting to see our vision come to life.

We’ve been paying close attention to each detail throughout the process, making thoughtful decisions to ensure the finished space is just right! Our architecture firm George Hillenbrand Associates and contractors AIK Renovations have been outstanding partners, bringing their expertise and flexibility to the project.

We took some exciting steps in shaping the look and feel of the space. In selecting finishes, we were especially mindful of creating an environment that fosters collaboration and community.

Summer Snapshots

AiLun, her husband, and their two daughters spent a few weeks in Taiwan visiting family, eating the most delicious foods, and sightseeing this August. One of their favorite memories from this summer was their trip to the Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area, where they enjoyed the gorgeous scenery, tested their tolerance for heights on the gondolas, and worked up a sweat on their very own dragon-themed paddle boat on the lake.

Cindy was in awe of the beauty and the vastness when she and her husband spent 10 days exploring Glacier National Park.

Evette's summer was filled with memorable moments and meaningful progress. One of her most heartwarming highlights was having her entire family together under one roof for the first time since 2022. She shared an exhilarating zip-lining adventure in Puerto Rico with her granddaughter Jace, where they both overcame their fear of heights. It was a season of connection, courage and forward momentum.

Nana’s summer was full: overseeing construction at 61 GPN. Here she is with EGF Chairperson Mark Bieler and AiLun at a recent visit to the new space. This summer she relaxed in the Hudson Valley with her husband and sidekick Hobbes, and reconnected with family and friends in Brooklyn.

Resources and Inspiration from our Leaders-in-Residence

My firm is increasingly helping nonprofit senior teams and boards shift from reactive crisis management to intentional, adaptive leadership in today’s dynamic, unprecedented environment. I recommend “Reinvention Through Disruption: Moving From Perpetual Crisis to Collective Adaptability" from Center for Creative Leadership to get your organization moving in that direction.

Of late, I have been looking to more resources like the AI Readiness Toolkit for Nonprofits, published by Georgetown University’s Center for Public and Nonprofit Leadership. The toolkit offers practical guidance, tools, and resources to build AI literacy, assess readiness, and implement ethical, mission-aligned AI strategies, especially important as AI continues to reshape how we all work.

-Francisco Tezén, CEO, A Better Chance

I recently watched a documentary on Grace Lee Boggs, author, writer, and social activist. Of the many gems Grace shared, this one really spoke to me - "One learns very soon that the changes we need are not going to come from the top..." In other words, change begins with us, not with someone who will save us.
