Join a focus group on data policies (£25 voucher for participation)

Having data protection and security policies is essential to ensure the confidentiality, safety and dignity of vulnerable individuals receiving adult social care, while complying with all the legal and regulatory requirements. We know that developing these policies

can be hard due to limited resources, lack of in-house expertise on the choices and their implications, and the challenge of balancing care responsibilities with compliance demands.

We're hoping to help providers to easily create effective policies that suit your circumstances, through a series of policy creation tools. Work has already started

on a policy to support organisations to manage the risks of allowing staff to use their

own devices (e.g. smartphones) for work purposes. We next want to look at Data Protection and Security policies (i.e. how to keep data safe and secure).

We're hoping to speak with adult social care providers, to help us make sure these tools are as helpful as possible. During these conversations, we will:

  • Ask questions about your needs and experiences with collecting and managing data, including any existing policies you have in place
  • Share the developing policy creation tools, and hear any thoughts you have on what works well and what doesn't

We wouldn't expect you to have any technical knowledge or experience, as we want to make sure that the tool is easy to understand for people from non-technical backgrounds as well.

The focus group will run from 12pm to 1:30pm on Thursday 10th July, and will take place over MS Teams. In recognition of the valuable contributions to that focus group, we will be providing £25 vouchers to participants after the session.

We want to talk to a wide range of organisations, and welcome interest from anyone in the sector. We are particularly interested in hearing from:

  • People responsible for data protection who are in non-technical roles (e.g. owners, directors)
  • People who work for home care providers
  • People who work for organisations with <20 employees
