This week...

All are invited to sign up online for our February 7 Mission Immersion Day Cookies & Visits to bring cheer to our members! You can also sign up to move furniture with Journey Home for those transitioning out of homelessness, which has been postponed until Saturday, February 21, due to expected cold weather. Please contact Emily Taylor at emily.hawken.taylor@gmail.com if you have any questions.

Children can also join the “Potty Party” on February 7 in Schultz Hall at 9:00 a.m. to assemble welcome home bathroom kits for Journey Home clients. Church School is collecting bathroom items for this project. Please drop off your donations in the basket in the back lobby. For more information, contact Kelsey Beach at kelsey@glastonburyfirst.org.

On Saturday, February 7, at 7:00 p.m., First Church will host Low Strung, an amazing group of Yale University cellists, as a Heads Up! Hartford fundraiser. Breaking out of the classical cello repertoire and venturing into the realm of classic rock and pop, Low Strung performs concerts that are characterized by sweeping, innovative arrangements of tunes by Led Zeppelin, Coldplay, the Beatles, the Eagles and many more. Tickets are available online. All are asked to bring a nonperishable food item for the food pantry.

Our Church School children will sell chocolate-covered Oreos during fellowship time on Sundays, February 8 for $5 each. This fundraiser will support the mission project with Journey Home's A Hand Up furniture program, which provides furniture for newly housed people. If you have questions, please contact Kelsey Beach at kelsey@glastonburyfirst.org.

Join us this Sunday, February 8, after 10:00 a.m. worship (rain or shine) for Munchkins on the Playground! It’s a fun and casual way for families to connect! Kids can enjoy the playground while parents chat and build community. And yes, Dunkin’ Munchkins are provided! Please contact Kelsey Beach for more information at kelsey@glastonburyfirst.org.

Fill your Easter baskets with Munson's candies and support this year's Choir Camp at the same time! Stop by the Board of Music table on Sundays through March 1 to place your order during common fellowship, order online or contact Jenn LaChapelle at jennlachapelle@gmail.com.

Items requested are sets of dishes, pots, pans and cooking utensils. If you can help, please contact Denise de Mello at demelloden@gmail.com for more information.

Next week and more...

Come knit or crochet with Prayer Shawl Ministry. We will meet in the Quiet Room on Monday, February 9, at 9:30 a.m. New members are always welcome! For more information, please contact Mary D’Anna at dannamary4@gmail.com.

All are welcome at our Prayer and Share group meetings on Tuesdays at 9:45 a.m. in the Quiet Room as we come together to connect, to pray and to uplift each other. Hike with us on Sunday, February 15, at 1:00 p.m. at the Hoffman Evergreen Preserve, Stonington. 3.5+ miles, easy/moderate. Over the decades, the forests have matured and are now a great home for many kinds of deep forest life that depend on old wood. The area is crisscrossed by old stone walls, a colonial highway and ancient stone structures, and is an ideal place for bird watching. We will meet at the parking area at 578 North Stonington Road, Stonington. For more information, contact Rich Baber at richbaber@yahoo.com or 860-881-0063.

Worship with us on Ash Wednesday, February 18, at noon in the Micah Chapel and 7:00 p.m. in the Meetinghouse, as the solemn season of Lent begins. The receiving of ashes is an ancient ritual of repentance which reminds us of our mortality and symbolizes our dependence on God’s steadfast love and mercy. The evening service will be livestreamed. In addition, if you would like a prayer and a box of ashes to take home, you can call Jenny at the church office (860-633-4641).

Join our three-week Lenten Bible Study group on Wednesdays, February 25, March 4 and March 11 at 11:30 a.m. in the Parlor with Steve Pozzato, Coordinator of Partnerships, Outreach and Fellowship! Each week will contain themes and scriptures designed to reflect on the upcoming Lenten season and to bring joy and reflection to the discussion. You may sign up to receive readings and questions via email in advance or hard copies will be available at the Bible Study for those who wish to join anytime! Sign up online or contact Steve with any questions at steve@glastonburyfirst.org.

Save the date to enjoy Paul Bisaccia, pianist, at our next Music at the Meetinghouse concert on Saturday, March 7!
