Worshipping together...

August 2, 9:30 a.m.

Preacher: Kate VanDerzee-Glidden, Senior Pastor

Music: Eric Gray, soloist

This summer we are worshipping at 9:30 a.m. in the Meetinghouse through September 6.

Childcare is available and Church School meets during our Sunday service.

Our Sunday worship and other designated services are livestreamed and are also available for viewing later on our YouTube channel. Please let an usher know if you would like a large print bulletin, large print hymnal or a hearing device to use during the worship service. Large print bulletins are available on our website. We offer accessible and limited mobility parking.

Unfortunately, the sound did not work for the recording of our July 26 worship service, so we are not including the link this week.

This week...

Stop by for our Faith + Friends Playgroup TOMORROW from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. for a time of connection, play and grace! Our biweekly playgroup for children and their families meets on the playground. Contact Kelsey Beach for more information at kelsey@glastonburyfirst.org.

Last chance to sign up by TOMORROW (July 29) for Vacation Bible School: Snowball Mountain Challenge: Find Your Strength in God! Camp will run Monday, August 3 – Friday, August 7, from 8:45 a.m. – noon. Info and registration forms are available online. For more information contact Karin Carlino at ceadmin@glastonburyfirst.org.

We are collecting new backpacks and $30.00 Target gift cards for the Back to School Program through Glastonbury Social Services. This program provides free backpacks and school supplies to eligible Glastonbury children in Kindergarten through 12th grade. Please drop off new backpacks and gift cards in the collection box in the back lobby no later than August 16 so they can be distributed in time for school. If you have questions, please contact Jenn Foster at jennyltripp@hotmail.com.

Our August + September issue of The Reminder newsletter is now available!

The Kindergarten Seed, a book of Wish School kindergarteners' ideas of what they want to be when they grow up, is dedicated to First Church! Each fall, the Board of Christian Service provides some requested items to the kindergarten teachers at Fred D. Wish Museum School in Hartford. Last fall, we provided clay pots for the students to plant seeds. To go with this theme, Mrs. Martindale’s class published this beautiful book. A video of the whole book is available online.

Next week and more...

Hike with us on Saturday, August 1, at 10:00 a.m. at the Appalachian Trail (section), Kent. 7.6 miles, moderate/difficult. We will be rewarded with stunning views of Indian Rocks overlooking the Housatonic River. We will also hit the summits of Mount Algo, Chapel Pond Hill and Schaghticoke Mountain before descending to Bull’s Bridge, one of Connecticut’s last remaining covered bridges. We will meet at Bull’s Bridge off Rte. 7 in Kent at 10:00 a.m. and carpool to the start. For more information, contact John DiTomasso at john.ditomasso@cox.net or 860-806-0309.

We’re excited to create a new church photo directory so we can put names with faces and grow more connected as a community.

Please send a landscape-oriented (horizontal) head shot (shoulders and up) to fccphotodirectory@gmail.com ASAP. We ask that you send only one photo per family. If you are not able to leave home and need a photo taken, please contact Rich at richbaber@yahoo.com or 860-881-0063 to make an appointment for him to stop by and take one for you.
