You've heard of a one-skein wonder... the Metro North is a two-skein wonder. This magical pattern optimizes your yardage. Any two skeins of yarn (or one, divided in half by weight) will make this interesting asymetrical chevron scarf that looks great in every size from bandana to blarf.
Of course, there are directions for scarves of specific sizes, if that's your jam, but the magic of this pattern is in working 1/2 of the yarn before beginning the decreases. It leaves you with enough yarn to complete and border your scarf. With the halfway home method, you will have to let go of knowing exactly what size your finished scarf will be.
If you have that one skein, or two skeins of really special yarn that you bought because it was beautiful, but you had no idea what you would make with it, Metro North is your project.
We will be meeting for four weeks over zoom. Please register for each zoom call to be placed on the email list to receive the recordings of the classes if you are unable to be there in person. Replays will only be available to registered participants.
Materials:
You will need at least 230 yards of #3 DK weight yarn for a bandana-sized scarf, up to 1000 yards for a shawl, or even larger if you like (you can totally pull it off) and a hook that matches your yarn.
Two skeins of something really lovely are the perfect choice.

Betty McKnit (Beth McKee Elliott) is a knitting and crochet designer and teacher, and the designer of the viral crochet pattern the 6-Day Kid Blanket. She has been crocheting and knitting since she was a little girl and enjoys making and designing simple, versatile “go-to” projects that can be adapted for different yarns and sizes. She promotes creativity as a joyful process and daily knitting/crochet as a mindfulness practice.
