60 Minutes recently called mental health the “second pandemic” and crisis that will follow all of the problems from COVID-19. 

The prolonged effects of social distancing along with our youth being disconnected from critical social support and normal everyday life has already taken a toll on their mental health and safety. This has triggered alarming levels of reported trauma, substance abuse, relapse, psychological issues, and an increased call volume to suicide and other emergency crisis hotlines.

To slow and arrest the spread and transmission of the Coronavirus, isolation was encouraged and enforced, schools were closed before the academic year concluded, businesses were forced to shut down, travel was restricted, and social gatherings were canceled—all creating new challenges and needs.

notMYkid immediately restructured the way it was delivering its prevention messaging, mentorship, and outreach. It had to.

To date, we have served over 2 million individuals and aim to reach 75,000 annually through our statewide programs supporting youth and families on the topics of mental health, suicide prevention, substance abuse, healthy relationships, bullying, body image, and internet safety.
