Meet Jess McGraw, MVOB Operations Coordinator

In August Jess McGraw joined the MVOB team. Jess will be our Operations Manager. Please stop in the workshop to welcome and meet Jess in person!

Hello friends! My name is Jess McGraw, the new Operations Coordinator at MVOB. I have 10 years experience as a nurse in various critical care settings and 5 years experience in retail as a Store Manager for JOANN. I have 4 amazing children – Maddison 22, Logan 20, Sabashtien 18, and Gavin 17. I love crafting all the things! Woodworking, sewing, paper crafting, and crocheting are my favorites. I am very excited to be a part of the My Very Own Blanket team!

Local Volunteers Needed

We need your help to sew our special tags on blanket kits during our "peak season" for people to bring more LOVE to children in care beginning Thanksgiving to the end of the year!

If you can help, contact Jess at jess@myveryownblanket.org

Thanks!

The blankets are not just special for warmth. The caring that comes with your My Very Own Blanket is a clear message to the children that someone is thinking of them and wishing them well. This is so meaningful…especially during the transition into care.

The Christ Child Society of Columbus

 starts Foster Hope Program

We are pleased to partner with the new Foster Hope program serving children entering foster care in the Columbus area.

Catherine, from the Christ Child Society of Columbus, shown here on a recent visit to our workshop to pick up blankets, confirmed the importance of the duffle bags they provide, which include personal care items, books, a pillow and a handmade MVOB blanket.

“Children who are being placed in a foster home usually enter foster care with only a few personal items thrown into a trash bag. We wanted these vulnerable children to transition to their new home with their full dignity as children of God.”

Shaffer co-workers make 60 blankets

Shaffer Distributing/Shaffer Entertainment held August blanket making events at their offices and made over 60 blankets that will be given to kids in foster care. Shaffer staff member Eileen dropped them off at our workshop.

She told us, “My Very Own Blanket made the process so easy that we were able to get great participation for this event. We are so happy we are able to support such a great organization."
