Our GHIAA Team will host panelists from the Connecticut Coalition for Economic and Environmental Justice, Connecticut Chapter of the Sierra Club and Reboot Eco. Hike with us on Sunday, January 25, at 1:30 p.m. at Bolton Heritage Farm/Edith Clark Preserve Bolton. (This hike is rescheduled from January 18. Starting at 1:30 p.m. will give folks who want to attend the Micah Moment on Environmental Justice an opportunity to do both.) This three-mile, easy to moderate hike will take us on farm roads through meadows at this iconic New England farm before entering the woods. We will meet at 266 Bolton Center Road in Bolton. Our Refugee Action Team has a special request from the Refugee Women’s Center (RWC) for kitchen supplies for two refugee families in need. All are invited to sign up online for our February 7 Mission Immersion Day! Whether you’re ready to roll up your sleeves with Journey Home (10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.) to move furniture for those transitioning out of homelessness into homes, or prefer to serve a warm meal at St. Vincent De Paul in Middletown (11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.), your hands are needed. People of all ages can participate in Cookies & Visits (starting at 9:00 a.m.) to bring cheer to our members. There is a place for everyone to get involved. Children can also join the “Potty Party” on February 7 in Schultz Hall at 9:00 a.m. to assemble welcome home bathroom kits for Journey Home clients. Church School is collecting bathroom items for this project. Please drop off your donations in the basket in the back lobby. Let's collect our biggest donation ever for the Glastonbury Food Pantry in January! Food suggestions include canned pasta, rice, canned meat, coffee and tea. Donations can be dropped off in designated baskets in the back lobby, the Narthex or Micah Chapel. Carol’s Closet paper pantry serves those who are struggling, and supplies are needed – especially toilet paper (four-packs or individually wrapped rolls), paper towels (individually wrapped rolls), tissues, bar soap (individually wrapped or two-pack) and shampoo (standard size).
