The SSW Undoing Racism Workgroup encourages you to participate in the United Way of Washtenaw County’s 21-Day Equity Challenge, launching on Juneteeth - June 19th, 2021!
Challenge content has been updated to share collective wisdom and acknowledge the social injustices and racist events of the past year.
Notes about the Challenge
- The Equity Challenge is a commitment to devote 10-15 minutes a day for 21 days to learn about the history and impacts of racism in Washtenaw County and the different ways that bias, prejudice, privilege, and oppression show up in our everyday lives.
- With this deeper understanding of the history and impacts of racism and how it shapes different people’s lived experience, we can all learn how best to do our part to make positive change in our community.
- The Equity Challenge is an enlightening journey for everyone – no matter where you come from or how you identify yourself. Along with new perspectives, you’ll receive examples and tools of how you can help undo racism and build racial equity and justice.
- Your participation is private and free.
- Every morning of the 21-day Challenge, you’ll receive an email prompt with readings, videos, or podcasts that will take about 10-15 minutes of your time.
- Explore the resources on your own, and then reflect with a colleague, family member, or friend.
- Each Friday of the Challenge will include activities on how to talk about race and equity with the children in your life.

If you choose, you can share your reflections and “Aha!” moments using the hashtags #unitedforequity and #uwwcequitychallenge.
Save the dates
On June 25, July 9, and July 16 Equity Challenge participants can convene in Community Conversations facilitated by Nonprofit Enterprise at Work. The goal is to create space for transformative dialogue, identify changes we can make as individuals and within our organizations in order to create the change we want to see within our community.
