Celebrate May Day with the AAAN and me!
The AAAN is calling for all Arabs in Chicagoland to join us, the Chicago Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression, Anakbayan and other Filipino organizations, and scores of additional racial and social justice institutions as we unite with the R3 (Resist. Reimagine. Rebuild.) Coalition for an 11 AM rally on Monday, May 1st--May Day--at Ogden and Roosevelt, across the street from Chicago's FBI headquarters.
We will rally there with R3 and then march together to the huge May Day convergence at Union Park, where the program will start at 1 PM. That's where I will gather with other speakers on the main stage for a program. Then we will continue marching with tens of thousands of workers, immigrants, and many others to Daley Plaza in downtown Chicago.
Join us at the most enjoyable march of the year, at an incredibly important time in this country.
Email
info@aaan.org if you want to join our Arab contingent for May Day!
Sincerely,
Rasmea Odeh Associate Director, AAAN
Gather and rally Monday, May 1st, at 11 AM, at Ogden and Roosevelt. March to Union Park (Lake and Ashland) by 1 PM, for a rally where Rasmea Odeh will speak. March from there to Daley Plaza for a closing rally at 4 PM.
Although International Workers' Day has its origins in Chicago, it is not a national holiday in the States--but it is celebrated throughout the world, including in the Arab World, with massive rallies of hundreds of thousands, even millions, of workers. It was only in 2006 that the immigrant rights movement here in the U.S.--led by Chicago's 750,000 protesters against the Sensenbrenner Bill--finally brought May Day back to the general consciousness.
Rally and march with us on May Day for
immigrant rights!
Against the racism of Trump's policies!
In support of workers' rights!
