What are the responsibilities of the OACB Board of Trustees?
-
To support county boards across the state who are working to achieve OACB’s vision of a strong, connected, inclusive Ohio where people have the opportunity to choose the life they want;
- To participate in high-level conversations about the long-term sustainability of Ohio’s DD service delivery system;
- To help influence policy decisions that will have an immediate, meaningful impact on the lives of people with developmental disabilities and their families;
- To share your county’s unique perspective(s) on the many challenges facing our system and offer local solutions that can be modeled in other counties; and
- To set the strategic direction, facilitate proper management, and provide fiscal oversight of the association as a 501(c)(6) non-profit organization, among others!
How much time is typically required to serve on the OACB Board of Trustees?
Trustees hold in-person board meetings four times each year (once per quarter), with virtual board meetings and virtual committee meetings taking place on a monthly basis between in-person meetings.
On average, trustees should expect to commit between 3-5 hours per month in order to adequately participate in committee meetings, attend in-person/virtual board meetings, and otherwise contribute their skills and talents to projects that help OACB better achieve its mission.
Where and when does the OACB Board of Trustees typically meet?
In-person meetings take place in Columbus and virtual meetings take place using the Zoom platform. In-person meetings are often scheduled to coincide with other major association events, such as the Spring Conference and Annual Convention, so that trustees can make the most of their travel to Columbus. All meetings take place during OACB's normal business hours, which are between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
What criteria must a candidate meet in order to serve on the OACB Board of Trustees?

Candidates must be willing to advance OACB’s vision, mission, and purposes as a trustee and able to devote the necessary time to fulfill their responsibilities as a trustee.
