Kingswood News

The reservation system is changing for Kingswood on August 18th. Throughout the summer I’ve been learning the program and building a robust site for booking through a new company called Firefly. The company that has been providing booking services was bought out, and we had to make the change. All of the remaining 2023 reservations will be shifted to the system, and we will have a trial run for the end of the summer to be sure we’re ready for Summer 2024. Beginning August 18th, when you click Book a Site on our webpage, you will be directed to our Firefly portal. You’re welcome to take a look at it while it’s open through Labor Day.

Video tutorials will be posted in December to assist with early January bookings. The site is more intuitive and allows for pictures and site descriptions. The Firefly system is web based allowing managers, our director and administrative staff to all see the program on any device any place in the world. This will enhance our customer service.

Many thanks to Nikki Hutt and Jojo Gonzalez for providing many of the site pictures.

Hanock Community Education Foundation Field Trip to KW

Many young voices singing, screeching and laughing filled the air at Kingswood Campsite on Friday, June 14th.  The Hancock Community Educational Foundation summer program came to camp for a full day of fun.  Children were greeted in the upper part of the huge old dairy barn where they played a few games, sang and were introduced to the property. Each group participated in two activities including acting, arts and crafts, boating and hiking.  After having lunch overlooking the pond, the children played in the field and swam in Hathaway Pond.  Several groups saw a little more of the 766 acre property by hay wagon. Nearly all of the activities were provided by dedicated volunteers, including campers who gave up their morning to row a boat or to help with weaving.  Each child has the opportunity to return to Kingswood for a day at no cost to enjoy the facilities and participate in daily programming with his/her family.

Kingswood is delighted to renew this partnership. Twenty-five children visited last summer for a half day and more than 50 children came for a full day this summer.  We look forward to seeing Hathaway Pond Road filled with eager, excited children walking down into camp and to hear so many young voices echo back over the pond as they have fun with their friends.
