With a new season of programming kicking off at venues across the state,
it's a great time to grow your audience. The State Arts Council and Historical Commission recognize the importance of arts and culture in our everyday lives, and are continuing our partnership with the NJ Departments of Health and Human Services to support the Families First Discovery Pass program, an initiative designed to do a few key things:
- Help ensure the state's arts and history experiences are accessible to low-income families and individuals.
- Help cultural organizations engage new audiences and build long-lasting relationships.
- Help contribute to the full scope of services aimed at strengthening families and communities.
Under this initiative, we are encouraging organizations to sign up to offer discounted or free admission and/or virtual registration to individuals and families with a Families First card or eWIC card. These items are issued by DOH and DHS to families in transitional assistance programs, including SNAP (food stamps), TANF (welfare), WIC (nutrition assistance for women, infants, and children), and Childcare Assistance programs.
Some examples of eligible discounts:
• Free admission and/or virtual programming, available to everyone.
(Ideal if your organization already offers free admission or programming!)
• Admission FREE for 2 adults and 2 children.
• 30 tickets put aside per performance: $5 each, 2 per card. Subject to
availability – tickets will be released if the show sells out.
We will work with all participating organizations to provide guidance on implementation of the program. At the same time, DOH and DHS will be promoting the participating organizations directly to the hundreds of thousands of cardholders and program participants, highlighting our shared commitment to serving all New Jerseyans.
