Dear Neighbor,
Today, one child out of six is at risk of not having enough to eat. And that’s right here, in Oregon. With the recent passage of H.R. 1, the largest cut to SNAP in history, more families will struggle to put food on the table.
This is alarming, but I want to tell you why I am hopeful.
In 2007, neighbors like you decided to do something about hunger in our backyard. Members of the faith community, local organizations, and volunteers started a food drive called SW Hope.
Now, 20 years later, SW Hope: The Hope in Neighboring is still going.
Over these last 20 years, with your support, this annual spring drive has helped more than 100,000 people access groceries and toiletries. Together, we’ve donated over 1,000,000 pounds of food to our neighbors.
When neighbors show up for one another, hope grows. As families face rising food costs, benefit cuts, housing instability, and deep uncertainty, it’s important that we keep showing up.
Our goal is to raise $50,000 by the end of April. Your support helps stock Neighborhood House's Free Food Market with fresh choices. It delivers groceries to neighbors who can’t access the market. It fuels programs that make sure families, seniors, and children have healthy food on the table.
I hope you will join us in this year’s SW Hope. Below are some ways you can help.
