Stockbridge Library Museum & Archives Get ready to dive into a world of literary treasures right here on Main Street, Stockbridge, at the Library's ANNUAL USED BOOK SALE happening from July 10 to 13! With over 12,000 gently used and cleaned books spanning 37 categories for easy browsing, you're bound to discover some hidden gems that will make your bookshelf sing. And while you’re browsing for your next favorite read at unbelievably great bargain prices, don’t forget to bring your sweet tooth along on Saturday! The library Cookbook Club members and other local baking aficionados will tempt you with their delightful creations at the Pop-up Bake Sale—because who can resist a treat? No set price-You decide on the value of the treat. Admission to the sale is absolutely FREE! If you want to get a head start, come on Thursday, July 10, from 12 to 5 pm ($10 "early bird" fee all day).

Family Storytime (July 15, 10:30-11am), Crane Paper Museum will offer a Pop Up Museum, July 16 - August 9, Wednesdays - Saturdays from 10am -1:30pm. Join the Crane Museum staff for a hands-on papermaking demonstration and an opportunity to make your own paper. Learn about the history of Crane papermaking including U.S. Currency paper. AUSTEN RIGGS CENTER invites the public to join them for a free in-person only screening of a work in progress, the filmed stage performance of the new play by Shira Nayman, PsyD, Awake in the Dark, that examines intergenerational trauma, Jewish identity, and the enduring bonds between mothers and daughters (July 15, 5-7pm), New Exhibition: Making Meaning: Growth and Artistic Expression in the Activities Program at the Austen Riggs Center exhibition at the Corner House Community Exhibition Space on 48 Main St, Stockbridge (June 6-October 12, 10am-4pm). In honor of Joan Erikson’s reimagining of the Activities Program and founding of the Austen Riggs Center Nursery School 75 years ago, the exhibition opening in June will look at the ways the activities program has shaped the patient experience at the Austen Riggs Center for over 100 years. The exhibition will showcase art of former patients and staff, and in August will host the Alumni Art exhibition in collaboration with an exhibition of current patient work in the Lavender Door. Norman Rockwell Museum This weekend marks the opening of the Hidden Worlds and Wonders Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition, which will feature playful sculptures across the museums 36-acre campus for you to explore (Opens July 12). Summer Saturdays for Family, a fun and interactive programming inspired by the art of Norman Rockwell and Walter Wick, creator of the I SPY books for children. Berkshire Theatre Group at the Unicorn Theatre in Stockbridge, Three-Part Invention, A Workshop with Reading Join us for a special workshop presentation of Three-Part Invention, a new play by Peter Parnell directed by Scott Ellis and featuring the luminous Jessica Hecht as Ruth Anspach, a concert pianist who is thrust into the spotlight in later life by the unexpected arrival of her biological son, a rising music critic. Their relationship sets off a journey through lost dreams, secrets and the complicated beauty of second chances. This is a rare opportunity to see a work-in-progress and witness the lives of four characters discovering for the first time who they truly are to one another (July 10, 2pm, July 11, 2pm). Out of Character After a powerful developmental debut at Berkshire Theatre Group of New Jewish Plays last summer, Out of Character—written and performed by Tony Award winner Ari’el Stachel—returns for a fully realized production. Hailed as a “riveting and deeply personal performance,” Out of Character is as funny as it is deeply affecting. Through storytelling both vulnerable and uplifting, Stachel brings audiences on a journey of discovery that is uniquely his yet universally relatable. This production is not to be missed—an unforgettable night of theatre that challenges, inspires and ultimately celebrates the beauty of embracing who we are. Chesterwood We are thrilled to announce that on July 12, 3-5pm, Chesterwood will be hosting a delightful new fundraising event, the Chesterwood Garden Tea Party. Join them for an afternoon of surprise and delight under the big tent with family and friends for tea, cocktails, live entertainment and delicacies to taste. This event is not just a charming gathering; it plays a vital role in supporting exciting youth programs such as a young person’s sculpture camp, monthly ice cream socials, and a festive holiday program in December. Nature Programs: Time Traveling with Trees: Reading A Changing Landscape Have you ever wondered what stories trees could tell if they could talk? Or how trees grow and change over their lifetime, what trees can tell us about a place's history, and the ecological roles of different species? At this outdoor walk on the grounds of Chesterwood, find the answers to these questions and more. You'll learn how the area has changed over the past 11,000 years, what clues to look for when reading the history of a New England landscape, and how to identify a few common tree species in the area -- all while taking in the scenery of Chesterwood's historic gardens, forests and wetlands. This program will cover up to 1.5 miles of level or gradually sloping trails, which could be surfaced or unsurfaced. Berkshire Botanical Garden Family Fridays: Animal Menagerie event with Sharon Audubon on Friday, July 11, from 11 am to noon! Clark Art Open Lecture: Berenice Abbott's Modern Lens (July 12, 11am-12pm),
On Sunday, July 13, the Clark Art Institute opens its doors for Community Day: Art In Action, an annual day of fun for all ages. Visitors enjoy free admission all day (10 am–5 pm), and from 11am to 4pm, the Institute offers artmaking activities, live entertainment, and more! Visitors can view the Clark’s permanent collection galleries and special exhibitions for free, including A Room of Her Own: Women Artist-Activists in Britain, 1875–1945; Berenice Abbott's Modern Lens; and Mariel Capanna: Giornata. Jacob's Pillow Week 3 of the Festival continues (July 10-13) with a three-day Pride celebration featuring The Illustrious Blacks (July 11-13), Trinity Irish Dance Company (July 10-13), Calpulli Mexican Dance Company (July 11, 5:30pm), and Sydnie L. Mosley Dances (July 12, 5:30pm). Week 4 of the Festival (July 16-20) Jacob’s Pillow is thrilled to welcome Andrew Schneider and collaborators to present the world premiere of HERE in the Doris Duke Theatre from July 16-20, marking the first week-long performance run in the newly-opened venue, and the first time since 2019 that the summer dance festival has presented works in all three venues on its iconic site in the Berkshires. HERE is a piece commissioned by the Pillow that tells the story of a single space over eons, incorporating wireless in-ear technology and other audio elements while exploring themes of connection and storytelling. Next door, in the historic Ted Shawn Theatre, The Sarasota Ballet will perform (July 16-20), On the outdoor Henry J. Leir Stage, Brother(hood) Dance! will perform Black on Earth, illuminating Black farmers’ resilience, wisdom, and cultural heritage (July 16 at 5:30pm). Making their Pillow debuts are VTDance, fusing movement, music, and storytelling (July 17 at 5:30pm); and Red Clay Dance Company, an Afro-Contemporary company from Chicago known for their “Artivism” (July 18 at 5:30). The Mount Edith Wharton's Home Summer Author Series runs July 7 – August 26. Talks are Mondays at 4pm and Tuesdays at 11am. Andrew Lipman, Squanto: A Native Odessey (Yale University Press, 2024). American schoolchildren have long learned about Squanto, the welcoming Native who made the First Thanksgiving possible, but his story goes deeper than the holiday legend. In Squanto, prize-winning historian Andrew Lipman draws from a wide range of evidence and newly uncovered sources to explore the mysteries that still surround the life of this important historic figure.
