Future U Construction: September Updates!

Hey, Beach!

Did you know the Future U project is really starting to take shape?

New drone photography offers a closer look at the progress happening across the University Student Union (USU) construction site. Crews are continuing work throughout the existing building while excavation, grading and structural preparation move forward around the future expansion areas.

The 61,000-square-foot expansion will include a new Marketplace with eight food vendors, including the return of the Nugget, along with an expanded ballroom and additional meeting and event spaces.

From roof-level work to major excavation surrounding the USU, the latest aerial images show the scale of the Future U project and the progress underway across the site. Check out some recent progress photos below.

A Record-Setting Smorgasport

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 25th anniversary of Smorgasport!

More than 6,300 students attended this year’s event, making it the most-attended Smorgasport in the event’s history. Students also had an opportunity to connect with the Future U project and learn more about the future USU. Check out some candid shots below of students engaging with the furniture samples at Smorgasport.

Additional opportunities to share feedback on furniture, finishes and other features are coming soon. Student input will help create a space that reflects the needs and experiences of current and future students.
