Protecting Kansas children from abuse and neglect requires a coordinated, statewide medical response. Child Abuse Review and Evaluation (CARE) providers play a key role by recognizing abusive injuries and conducting medical evaluations for children under age six when maltreatment is suspected.

Join colleagues from across Kansas for this FREE two‑day training focused on child abuse recognition, medical evaluation, and the role of a CARE Provider. The training is open to any physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant licensed to practice in Kansas. Participants will learn about the CARE Network and can decide whether becoming a CARE Provider is a good fit for their practice.

The CARE Network is a partnership between the Kansas Chapter, American Academy of Pediatrics; KDHE; DCF; and Board‑certified Child Abuse Pediatricians at Children’s Mercy Kansas City and the University of Kansas School of Medicine–Wichita.

"I’m incredibly grateful that I chose to attend this conference. What I gained over these two days far exceeded my expectations. The knowledge, insight, and confidence I’ve developed in identifying and diagnosing child abuse and neglect are invaluable. I’m still amazed that this conference was offered free of charge. It’s something every medical doctor, nurse practitioner, and physician assistant working with children should attend. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who helped organize and deliver this conference. Your efforts are deeply appreciated.” Nurse practitioner in Garden City
