LEGO ROBOTICS LEAGUE
Build your love of robotics by building and programming robots! Our LEGO Robotics League meets every Sunday at 1pm in the Makerspace. Utilizing LEGO Spike Kits, you will participate in individual and team challenges. Build your skill set to attempt the monthly challenge! All materials are provided and no experience is necessary. Kids ages 9-13 (grades 4th-8th) are invited to attend. For all other ages, please come to the Sunday Coding Club at 2pm, robotics is also available at that time.

We are also hiring high school robotics mentors to provide guidance and inspiration to LEGO Robotics League students. No robotics experience is necessary and bilingual (Spanish/English) is preferred. If you know a teen interested in working in our Makerspace, spread the word! APPLY HERE

The LEGO Robotics League is made possible by an Inspiration Grant from the California State Library. The program will provide equitable access for students to participate in competitions by providing LEGO Spike Kits at the library. Program partners include the Redwood City School District, Redeemer School, Woodside High School Robotics Team and Sequoia High School Robotics Team.
NEWS FROM THE FOUNDATION
February is National Library Lovers month, the perfect time to celebrate your favorite library! The family of a local teacher celebrated their mother's retirement with a generous donation to Redwood City Public Library.

Michele Mairani taught kindergarten at Clifford School in Redwood City for 22 years. A die-hard library lover, she used the library extensively with her students to promote literacy. In honor of her retirement, her daughter and two sons presented the library with a tribute gift, which will be used to support the book collection in the children's room of the Downtown Library. A plaque in the children's room recognizes their donation in honor of Ms. Mairani's many years of teaching and her retirement. The donor recognition ceremony was held in the Downtown Library on Friday, February 17.

Her daughter said "my family couldn't think of a better tribute to our mom's years of service to RCSD and Clifford School than this gift to the library. Her love of learning, all thing books, children and Redwood City made this the only place we would consider honoring her. She believes that the library is one of the greatest resources a community can give its citizens that is available for FREE to everyone. We hope that the community can enjoy these new books in her honor." - Lauren, Brian & Ben Edelstein

You can celebrate National Library Lovers month by checking out a book (or two or three), investigating the many services and programs that RCPL offers, and/or making a donation here to the Redwood City Library Foundation to allow us to continue to support library initiatives.
