For nearly 40 years the Chicano Latino Education Association (CLEA) has focused on advocating for Chicanx/Latinx students at Chabot College. Part of that focus is to empower Chicanx/Latinx students by promoting access to higher education and encouraging student persistence towards higher graduation and transfer rates.
Our students are an extension of familia – family. You too can be a part of this familia through your generous support. Consider donating to the CLEA scholarship fund and support Chicanx/Latinx students as they achieve their academic and career goals. Support CLEA student scholarships and programming by donating.

Fall Puente Update - Seeking Mentors
Photos and story courtesy of Shoshanna Tenn
| |
Chabot College's Puente Project is starting its 44th year! Puente started at Chabot College in 1981 to provide better support for students, particularly underrepresented Latinx students who are first-generation in college and whose families often don't have experience with the American higher education system. Today, Puente Programs can be found in 65 colleges, 36 high schools, and now 7 middle schools across California and Texas.
On September 11, Chabot's Puente Program invited the families of new Puentistas for a "Noche de Familia" event at Chabot College. 150 people attended this event, which was presented in both Spanish and English. Family members learned about Puente, paths to transfer, met the Puente staff, and learned about how they could best support their students.
Chabot's Puente Project is still soliciting a few additional mentors for this year's cohort. If you are interested in mentoring a new Puente student, please contact Shoshanna Tenn at stenn@chabotcollege.edu
