June is membership renewal month for the Occoquan Historical Society (OHS) and we are hoping that you will take a moment to show your interest in Occoquan's history by joining or renewing your membership in the Society for $20.

The COVID pandemic was a challenge for the Society, closing down the Mill House Museum for more than a year and leading to the departure of a number of the museum staff. With several new staff members having come on board in the past year, however, I am pleased to report that the museum is now back open six days a week (closed Wednesdays) from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and staff are participating in what look to be a number of enhancements over the coming year. These include:

  1. Reviewing and reorganizing the collection on a chronological or thematic basis;
  2. Improved sales inventory and management;
  3. Outreach to local businesses in Occoquan;
  4. Restarting periodic publications about the museum collection; and
  5. Potentially partnering with other local museums/historical societies on a lecture program.

None of this is possible, of course, without the support of members, so if you are able, please consider joining or renewing your annual membership in the Occoquan Historical Society for $20. You may do so online with a credit card or PayPal by going here (https://www.occoquanhistoricalsociety.org) and clicking on the "Donate/Join Tab, or if you prefer to do so by check, make the check out to "OHS" and send it to:

PO Box 65

Occoquan, VA 22125

Please be sure to include your email address in the memo line.

Thank you very much for your support.
