CCUS Company Highlights

Emissol's DAC Breakthrough

Emissol, a cleantech firm, uses its DAC advancements to accelerate Africa's first DAC facility, Octavia's Project Hummingbird.

Emissol has created carbon removal technology that cuts the costs of traditionally expensive systems, while also solving time and space issues. Octavia is now pairing Emissol's tech with Kenya's geothermal power and unique geology to create a cleaner, more efficient DAC system. Octavia uses Kenya's abundant geothermal energy to power DAC and permanently store the carbon in porous basaltic rocks in Kenya's Rift Valley.

Octavia's cofounder and CEO, Martin Freimüller, says, "Working with Emissol has catalyzed our R&D process in maturing and optimizing our contactor-based DAC for deployment in our pilot project. By leveraging their expertise and integrating these advancements with Kenya's geothermal energy resources, we are poised to deploy the world's most cost-effective DAC technology here in Kenya."

Visit the Emissol Website for more information.
