Meet Dr. Katie Davidson:

Dr. Katie Davidson is a graduate of the University of Manitoba, obtaining her B.Sc. in 2008 and her DMD and B.Sc.(Dent) in 2012. She is currently practicing in Winnipeg, MB – primarily at Evergreen Dental Centre and once a week at Revive Dental – loving the ability to serve two separate communities in the city. She is a member of the Winnipeg Dental Society (executive member 2017-2024) and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. She has spent the majority of her 13 years in practice focused on the care of children of all ages, including those with autism and other developmental and sensory challenges and maintains a practice aimed at prevention – intercepting decay risk and occlusion challenges early via education and clinical treatments to allow each patient to thrive in their dental home as well as in life. Her goal is to provide her patients the ability to feel at ease and confident in coming to the dentist.

When not practicing dentistry, Dr. Katie can be found satiating her passion for music, athletics and the outdoors. She plays multiple instruments and has been involved with the All-Dentist Musical over the last 12 years – most recently as ‘Roxie’ in this year’s production of Chicago. A previous member of the University of Manitoba Bison Women’s Volleyball Team, Dr. Katie can now usually be found out for a run, bike or hike, at the cottage, on the golf course, or cheering on the Winnipeg Jets and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Lecture: Keeping Kids In Your Practice: Shaping Your Next Generation of Patients

Tips, tricks and useful strategies for your youngest patients – they’re not scary, I promise!

Description:

Many general practitioners feel uncomfortable working with patients under a certain age due to multiple obstacles – from positioning to behaviour management to not having ideal dental materials available; it can be a challenge! We will discuss multiple facets of providing care to your youngest patients so you can build a solid foundation of less anxious, trusting patients in your very own practice. Clinical examples, red flags, early interventions, discussions with parents, simple hacks, proper assessment and referral – we’ll work together to make your littlest patients a highlight of your day!

Meet Dr. Ana Schettini:

Dr. Ana Schettini was born and raised in Brazil, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in dental surgery. To expand her knowledge and expertise, she moved to Winnipeg and obtained a Master of Science and a Certificate in Prosthodontics from the University of Manitoba.

Dr. Schettini is Board Certified in Prosthodontics and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada (RCDC). Passionate about the field of dental rehabilitation, she is currently a part-time instructor at the University of Manitoba’s Dr. Gerald Niznick College of Dentistry, where she teaches within the Department of Restorative Dentistry.

Her clinical and teaching work focuses on providing patients with comprehensive, multidisciplinary treatment plans designed to improve both oral health and overall quality of life. With a strong commitment to excellence in patient care and education, Dr. Schettini strives to advance the field of prosthodontics while fostering lasting relationships with her patients and colleagues.

Outside of the office, Dr. Schettini enjoys taking on DIY projects at home, exploring new local coffee shops, and connecting with people through meaningful conversations and community involvement.

Lecture: Exploring Treatment Pathways in Contemporary Dentistry: ‘Many Ways of Being Right’

A Case-Based Lecture on Clinical Judgment and Treatment Planning

Description:

In clinical dentistry, there is rarely a single “right” answer. This lecture explores the art of treatment planning by presenting a single patient case that could be approached through multiple valid, evidence-based strategies. We’ll explore the reasoning, advantages, limitations, and ethical questions behind each option. Through this exercise, attendees will gain practical tools for developing flexible, patient-centered treatment plans and sharpening their clinical decision-making skills in real-world scenarios.
