The Invisible Extinction
Monday, Jan. 31
5 - 7 p.m.
Join us for this screening of the 90-minute documentary featuring Martin J. Blaser, MD, Henry Rutgers Chair of the Human Microbiome, director of the Center for Advanced Biotechnology and Medicine at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, and professor of medicine, and pathology and laboratory medicine, at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, and Gloria Dominguez-Bello, PhD, director of the New Jersey Institute for Food, Nutrition, and Health; Henry Rutgers Professor of Microbiome and Health; and professor of biochemistry and microbiology, and anthropology, at Rutgers. The film focuses on their decades-long research on the link between our bodies' microbiomes -- the bacteria, fungi and viruses that help us digest food and keep us healthy -- and diseases like diabetes and asthma. It also includes a discussion on the importance of the microbiome as related to vaginal health, vaginal delivery, skin-to-skin contact, and breastfeeding. Drs. Blaser and Dominguez-Bello will be on hand following the screening for a half-hour Q&A.

Which symptoms should raise a red flag with healthcare providers, and which resources are available to your patients? Join us to learn more.
