Dear TCPC Friend,

When John Murphy, Founder of Love for Ukrainians (LFU), was asked what scripture most reflects their work, he responded 1 Corinthians 16:14 “Do everything in Love.”

Displaced after thirty years of humanitarian and pastoral service in Ukraine, John, his wife Iryna and their family remain committed to “Bringing people to God”, guided by a mission “Expressing love to the Ukrainian people by providing temporary relief and lasting hope in the midst of their turmoil.”

Since 2022, LFU has evacuated forty Ukrainians from the war zone and connected them with loving Christian Communities in Europe. LFU has also funded four wonderful receiving ministries in Ukraine and Germany that engage people in relationships providing long term support. Testimonials from some vulnerable Ukrainians that have been brought closer to God, as their lives have been saved and changed, can be found in the attached TRIBUTE.

Please join us, Saturday, May 13, 6 to 8:30pm, Three Chopt Presbyterian Church (TCPC), 9315 Three Chopt Rd. Richmond, VA 23229, for a dinner and opportunity to support Love for Ukrainians. You will meet the individuals and families that are healing and growing in their new communities and the leaders of those ministries that are meeting a range of needs. Fellowship and a dinner with Ukrainian cuisine will follow.

While there is no fee for the dinner per se, we request you prayerfully consider a donation to Love for Ukrainians at a level you feel will make an impact. All levels of generosity have value. To help understand how involvement through donations helps carry out the mission, we have attached a HELPFUL GIVING GUIDE summarizing specific ways giving meets needs.

If you attend the dinner and decide to make a contribution, we ask you do so by May 31st, 2023. Donations can be made at the May 13 event or afterwards. Online, Venmo and mail in options directly related to this event can be found at www.mphero.live. Please reference and use that designated link if you decide to make a donation. Also note: all checks are to be made out to Mercy Partners with designate to LFU Immediate Care. This ensures one hundred percent of gifts will support LFU Immediate Care. If you are interested in more general information about the Love for Ukrainians project/ministry, please visit  https://www.loveforukrainians.org/.

Faced with the consequences of enduring a war zone where the stakes are so high, LFU is saving souls and restoring the peace, dignity, hope and sense of worth for those who are struggling. We can all play a role.

As we “offer ourselves in worship to God”, we are hopeful you may embrace this experience as an effort to “nurture gifts for ministry through the Holy Spirit, as we serve others in mission”.

Together, we can make a difference. Please accept my gratitude for your consideration.

Blessings,
