Vive La France

We were busy last summer finding new French wine producers to introduce to Connecticut. Learn more about two of our recent additions below. We look for family producers doing exceptional work that would resonate in Connecticut restaurants and stores. That's certainly what we found here!
Domaine Guy Mardon

Father and son winemakers Guy and Jean-Luc Mardon run the family estate of Domaine Guy Mardon on 35 hectares in the heart of Touraine in France's Loire region. Their wines are still aged in the original cellar under the family home. Since 1995, the winery has reduced yields and become a member of Terra Vitis, a group that pursues environmentally friendly viticulture, without the use of pesticides. Each parcel is vinified separately before blending.

La Couarde Sauvignon Blanc is a 100% estate grown Sauvignon Blanc from 29 year old vines, and is generous on the palate with notes of tart lemon and grapefruit. The wine finds a good balance of ripe and fresh flavors with crisp acidity and good minerality.

Les Toits Rouges Gamay is a 100% Gamay from 27 year old vines and bears a beautiful cherry nose with bright, almost spicy flavors of red fruits. It has a nice body and a good finish.

Taste these wines at  Stony Hill Wines & Spirits on Saturday, November 14 from 1-4pm.
Chateau Teulon

Since 1703, the Teulon family has farmed land in the village of Saint Gilles, south of Nimes. With Phillipe and Vincent at the helm, these wines are gentile and elegant and an incredible value for around $10.99. Since 2012, the vineyards are certified agriculture biologique.

The Roussanne is floral, with notes of citrus, mineral, wet rock, lemon peel, and lime. The Rouge (Syrah 60%, Grenache 30%, Mourvedre 10%) has gorgeous purity along with abundant notes of cranberries, black cherries, black currants, crushed rocks and spring flowers.

Now available at  Al's Warehouse Trumbull and throughout the state by special order!
