Fine Arts community feedback session on May 15

We want your feedback about a potential new fine arts center at Barrington High School! All community members are invited to attend a listening feedback session led by DLA Architects regarding fine arts facilities at BHS. Community feedback will be used to help create the architectural design work for a fine arts center that meets the needs of the school and community. The meeting will take place on Monday, May 15 from 6pm to 7pm in the College Resource Center at BHS.

The design work was an identified project within the $147 million dollar referendum that Barrington 220 area voters approved in March 2020. Although the cost to build a new fine arts center was not included in the referendum, creating the design work will provide the Board of Education and the community with the necessary information to determine the appropriate next steps.

Latest BHS construction updates

  • Construction continues this month on the new front atrium addition, which will be a commons area that serves as a flexible learning space, as well as a place where students can eat lunch, meet in groups or work on individual projects. It is anticipated to be completed after the start of the 2023-24 school year.

  • Construction is underway in the athletic wing of the high school, where there will be a new auxiliary gym, weight room, fitness center, and dance studio. These projects are anticipated to be completed for the start of the 2023-24 school year.

  • Construction is also underway on the lower level of the building, in order to create a dedicated Student Services area which will include counseling, attendance, health services and the deans office. This new area will improve the student experience by making it easier for students to access these services in a central location. These projects are anticipated to be completed for the start of the 2023-24 school year.
