PANOW in the news

PANOW recently co-authored a letter to the editor with Meals on Wheels People CEO Suzanne Washington. The topic was hunger in our community, especially as a result of emergency pandemic Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits ending.

We hope to continue highlighting our partners in the local media as well as ways that PANOW's CAP program can help solve these challenges.

PANOW advocacy efforts

A critical part of PANOW’s strategic plan is to enact long-term systemic change at the policy level to materially improve the well-being of Oregonians, in addition to providing the direct service work we do every day.

‍As Oregon’s state legislature is currently in session, we’ve been focusing on the following bills:

Read more about these policies on our blog. We will continue to provide updates on our advocacy work and encourage you to reach out with any questions or opportunities.

Community Health Workers (CHW) are employed by PANOW to assist clients with navigating a complex health system and with moving between the organization’s different programs as income, immigration status, employment, and other life changes occur. These individuals, many of whom are bilingual and/or bicultural, are able to provide culturally-responsive support, translating health care and services available in the community.

Currently, the organization is partnering with Clackamas County Health Centers to co-host a CHW focused on assisting Clackamas County patients with social needs. This project is generously funded by a grant from Blueprint for a Healthy Clackamas County.
