Scam texts from Rev. Jessica

A member received this scam text message (pictured) from someone posing as Rev. Jessica. Unfortunately, we can't prevent these messages from occurring but we can all try to stay vigilant in identifying them as spam. Some things to check: Check the sender's name & number; it's likely spam (but not always) if the sender isn’t in your contacts. Be careful with requests for money/info or unexpected texts. Don't reply or click any links. Instead, please contact the staff member directly by phone/email/in-person to verify. Thank you.

Women Spirit

Darkness in Winter

Tue. Jan. 6 | 6-8pm | Wheatley Room & Zoom

Women Spirit invites you to explore inspiration in winter using northern cultural concepts like LAGOM (Swedish “just right”) & FRILUFTSLIV (Norwegian “open air life”). Join us for presentations, discussions, meditation, and poetry sharing. We hope to strengthen our coping skills to help us have positive mindsets to be happy and content this winter. Bring a winter/darkness-themed poem to share if you'd like.

Please RSVP by 12/30 to Cindy.a.lundgren@gmail.com if you will attend in person or zoom.

Here Comes the Sun Book Discussion on January 7

Wed. Jan. 7 | 6:30pm

Join the Climate Action Committee for a discussion of Bill McKibben’s latest book, Here Comes the Sun (2025) on Wednesday evening, January 7. (not required to have read the book). McKibben woke up readers to the scary reality of climate change in his first book, The End of Nature (1989) and updated the subject in 18 books to follow. Here Comes the Sun celebrates the current spike in power from the sun and wind as the path out of the climate crisis. McKibben was WBUUC’s speaker on Earth Day Sunday in 2010.

Nancy Condon: A Retrospective, January 2-30, 2026

The Hudson Art Gallery is exhibiting the work of longtime WBUUC member Nancy Condon in January of 2026. Nancy passed in May of this year.

Dates of Exhibit:

January 2-30

Open Receptions:

Sat. Jan. 10 & Sat. Jan. 24: 2-4pm

Hudson Art Gallery, Hudson, WI

About the exhibit: A clear and compelling voice exploring the beauty of the world and also our shortcomings. Condon’s work, visually layered and full of meaning, explores themes of social justice, compassion for all peoples, and guardianship of the earth. Her work invites us to consider our interconnection, and the ways we trade stewardship for convenience and human dignity for profit. Her voice & legacy light the way to a kinder, healthier world.

Pastoral Care Requests, Meeting with Ministers and Building Hours

If you have a pastoral care update or a request for tangible support, please email Rev. Jack directly (revjack@wbuuc.org) or fill out this form: https://wbuuc.breezechms.com/form/pastoralcare

We would be honored to name your joy or sorrow or life event during our Sunday morning meditation so that our community can know about your concern and hold it with you. As the Swedish proverb goes, “Shared joy is double joy; shared sorrow is half sorrow.”
