NEWS & NOTES
From the nation's leading source on all things women and politics.

Join CAWP for Election Night

On our 2022 Election Results Tracker, we’ll be tracking all the women who win races for governor, Congress, statewide elective executive office, and state legislatures. This tracker will compare total numbers of women winners by level of office to both the number of women currently serving at that level and the records for women officeholders for that level of office. There will also be additional data on women winners by race and ethnicity, party affiliation, and incumbency. Follow CAWP on Twitter on election night and the following days to get the latest information about records and learn about the women that have broken barriers in election 2022. Lastly, CAWP will continue to release results for women candidates until every race is decided, so stay tuned as we report out the story of women candidates in the 2022 midterms.

CAWP and The 19th Break Down Election Results

CAWP Director Debbie Walsh and Director of Research Kelly Dittmar will join The 19th Editor-at-Large Errin Haines tomorrow, Wednesday, November 9th at 2pm ET in a Twitter Space for a conversation about key takeaways from election 2022. Walsh, Dittmar, and Haines will discuss results as they stand the day after, milestones, election night surprises, and the big picture for women in the 2022 cycle. You can join the space when it goes live at this link. If you didn’t already know, The 19th is an independent, nonprofit newsroom reporting on gender, politics, and policy; follow their reporting by subscribing to their daily newsletter.

The Takeaway and CAWP’s Shelection Debrief

Debbie Walsh will also be joining Melissa Harris-Perry, host of WNYC’s The Takeaway, on Wednesday, November 9th to discuss election results and wrap-up our Shelection partnership with The Takeaway team. The Shelection series has examined general-election matchups in the 2022 cycle where both major-party candidates are women. The most recent episode took a look at the race in Kansas' 3rd congressional district, where incumbent Representative Sharice Davids, one of the first Native American women elected to Congress, is in a rematch with Kansas Republican Party Chair Amanda Adkins. See the full series on the Shelection page, and tune in to WNYC at 3pm ET or check your local NPR listings for Walsh’s election debrief with Melissa Harris-Perry.
