The Importance of Early Childhood Development and the Private Sector

by Craig Knutson
President/CEO
Potts Family Foundation

The Oklahoma Business Roundtable funded a proposal by the Potts Family Foundation to determine effective ways to educate the private sector about early childhood development (ECD) programs and services. Our research indicates that the private sector has a very modest understanding of the importance of ECD and related evidence-based programs that exist for many families their companies employ.

Chamber Federal Legislative Trip Scheduled

Meetings at the Pentagon and meetings with our Oklahoma Congressional Delegation are planned. The Enid Chamber and the City of Enid will also host a legislative reception. The legislative trip is a great opportunity to support Vance AFB and discuss federal issues that impact Enid and Northwest Oklahoma.

What qualities do you look for in a leader?: Integrity, passion, competence.
If you could turn any activity into an Olympic sport, what would you have a good chance at winning a medal for?: Fishing. I’ll break my arm casting before I’ll give up.

Name:   Sally Ramey
Hometown: Enid, Oklahoma

Occupation/Profession: I am the Teller Services Officer at NBC Oklahoma . I manage the teller line for the Enid branch. I also help with debit card services, new accounts, online banking and all other areas of customer service.
What is the best piece of advice you've ever received?: Don’t be afraid to ask for what you want. The worst thing that can happen is, they can say no.
What qualities do you look for in a leader?: I look for someone that isn’t afraid to do the hard things in life, someone that sees what needs to be done and then just does it.
If you could turn any activity into an Olympic sport, what would you have a good chance at winning a medal for?: Reading. I can easily get lost in a good book for days.
Favorite thing about Enid: I love the progress that is being made here and the people that are investing their time and energy into making Enid a better place to live.
