Vicar Aaron's Message
“And you, child, shall be called the prophet of the Most High; for you will go before the Lord to prepare the way, to give God’s people knowledge of salvation by the forgiveness of their sins.” (Luke 1:76-77)
These words are announced by Zechariah to his newborn son John, who is later known as John the Baptist. Zechariah and Elizabeth were surprised to give birth at their age, and this surprise foreshadows the great surprise that will come soon: that God will choose to dwell among humans as Jesus Christ.
God of little surprises, You give us gifts in many forms. Help us prepare the way for those unexpected gifts. Prepare us to welcome You in unexpected places, like mangers, for example. Amen.
